Gran Turismo Sport Will Be Compatible With Playstation VR

Gran Turismo Sport will be compatible with the Playstation VR when both release later this year, according to an Amazon store product screen.

In case the first-person view of the Gran Turismo games is no longer enough for you, you won’t have to wait for much longer when Gran Turismo Sport, the newest addition to the Gran Turismo series, releases sometime this year.

Gran Turismo Sport will be the first Gran Turismo game to also be compatible with the Playstation VR, allowing players that own both to be able to act like they’re actually driving one of the series’s many stunning-looking cars.

The news came from the Amazon UK page of the racing game, which claims that the game will be Playstation VR compatible when it releases.

The Playstation VR will be launching in October, but a beta will still be available for Gran Turismo Sport and the Playstation VR before the game finally releases in the second half of 2016.

Gran Turismo’s previous release, Gran Turismo 6, released in 2013 for the Playstation 3. Sport will be Gran Turismo’s first foray onto the Playstation 4. The Playstation VR will correspondingly be Playstation and Sony Computer Entertainment’s first foray into the world of VR. The Playstation VR will come out several months after other VR headsets have already released, including the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Using the Playstation VR with Gran Turismo will allow people to actually experience the game’s first-person driving mode in a safer environment than actual sports-car racing might offer, with cars that they’ll never be able to really own.

Playstation VR does have the advantage in a number of factors for the Playstation VR; it’s highly anticipated (it flew off the shelves both times when Amazon put up pre-order offers, and at a cheaper price than the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, both of which cost hundreds more than the 400 dollar Playstation VR headset.

Either way, we’ll have to wait until later this year to see how the Playstation VR and Gran Turismo go together.
