Uncharted: Golden Abyss Remake for PS4 Still a Possibility
When Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection was released one question that was raised was why Uncharted: Golden Abyss was not included. It turns out that it was considered, but there was a good reason that it was not included, though an HD remake has not been ruled out.
When asked why the Vita spinoff was not included in the PlayStation 4 collection, Arne Meyer’s replied with this:
“It was definitely under consideration, because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games. But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection, we realised that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4. We wanted to keep that as a holistic collection for that reason, and Golden Abyss kind of lives a little bit outside of that.”
Where this gets interesting though is new comments made by Meyer now time has passed since the Collection’s release:
“I think that’s not completely out of the question. I mean it’s not entirely up to us, obviously. I think I was asked this at Eurogamer Expo and Shuhei Yoshida was sitting in the front row and I pitched it off on him and I was like, “you have to go talk to Shu about this,” which is what the case is.
But it’s definitely not out of the question. I mean anything is possible. I know there hasn’t been talk about that recently, but there’s no reason why it can’t happen either.”
So even though it did not fit with the collection itself, there is still a possibility that Uncharted: Golden Abyss could make it on to the PlayStation 4 after all.
