Fallout 4 patch 1.4

In Fallout 4, when it comes to damage extenuation, there is nothing that can be compared to Power Armors. These heavy structures not only mitigate damage, but also provide sheer raw power.

For more help on Fallout 4, read our Settlements Locations, Fallout 4 Character Builds, Companions Locations and Magazines Locations Guide.

Fallout 4 Power Armor Locations

Power Armors can be constructed using multiple exchangeable and customizable components. Doing so requires a lot of resources; however, you can render the process a tad easier using certain perks.

Once inside Power Armor, you instantly acquire+11 strength, radiation resistance, negate falling damage, and even stomp on enemies.

Furthermore, some Power Armors also support jet-pack allowing you to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Then there are several other mods which increase the base effects.

However, do note that you need a constant supply of Fusion Cores to maintain the Power Armor up and running. In order to repair Power Armor, you should maintain an ample quantity of items such as Aluminum, Copper, and other resources.

In addition to this, when inside Power Armor, you lose all other boosts offered by pre-equipped items. Finally, always make sure to remove the Fusion Core as soon as you eject it to prevent it from being stolen.

Understanding Power Armor Frame

You need to have a frame in order to craft Power Armor, however, do bear in mind that you cannot carry these frames. But even if you simply equip a frame, you acquire +60 damage resistance and +60 energy resistance.

Once you’ve a frame, you can combine different parts to create your ideal suit. As for earning frames, you need to purchase them from vendors, find scattered across the world, and from completing quests.

Power Armor Mods

Power Armor Mods in Fallout 4 basically allow you to increase the utility of your Power Armor by applying Paint Jobs and so much more. These custom parts can be acquired by completing certain quests, defeating enemies, and by crafting.

If you wish to create them by crafting, you’ll require Blacksmith and Armorer perks as well as many rare materials. Following sections provide some examples of what you can achieve with Power Armor Mods:

Basic Mods
Basic Mods are essentially the Damage Resistance and Energy Resistance offered by a Power Armor piece. With Raider Power Armor, you only get two Basic Mods which increases as you acquire more advanced Power Armors.

Headlamp Mods
Helmets belonging to every Power Armor support a number of headlamps which lets you change the color of your project beam.

Material Mods
There are some Power Armors which support Material Mods such as lead plating, explosive shielding, and so much more which become activated as soon as they’re applied.

However, in some cases, you must apply a similar Material Mod to all Power Armor parts in order to acquire the offered boost.

If you’re not satisfied with the number of Material Mod slots on your Power Armor, you can increase that by increasing factions trust and finding Hot Rodder magazines.

With the sole exception of Raider Power Armor, all Power Armors in Fallout 4 allows you one unique paint job, read on to find more details:

  • Complete ‘The Minutemen Quest: When Freedom Calls’ to get Minutemen paint job for T-45 Power Armor

  • Complete ‘Miscellaneous Quest: Atom Cats’ to get Atom Cats paint job for T-60 Power Armor
  • Complete ‘Brotherhood of Steel Quest: Shadow of Steel’ to get BOS paint job for T-60 Power Armor
  • Complete ‘The Institute Quest: Nuclear Family’ to get Institute paint job for X-01 Power Armor

Misc. Mods
Finally, there are Misc. Mods which can be applied to different Power Armor parts to gain certain bonuses.
