Uncharted 4 is End of an Era; Brought Tears to Developers

Uncharted 4 developers say that it is an end of an era for them that brought many devs to tears.

We know that Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End, as the name suggests, is going to be the last we see in the franchise; however, it is more than just that for the development team at Naughty Dog.

Neil Druckmann, the game’s co-director has been featured in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine where he talked about the journey of about a decade that Naughty Dog has made with the Uncharted franchise.

He delved into how they strongly felt that Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End is ironically the end of an era too.

We get more and more that feeling of this definitely [being] the end of an era for us as a studio. We’ve been with this franchise for almost ten years now from inception all the way to this point. Luckily, we don’t get too much time to dwell on that feeling because we’re so busy, but every once in a while… you know? I remember when Bruce and I came onto the project.

What’s more, Druckmann says that while they were wrapping up the motion capture and discussing how it was going to end as a game, a number of people were teary eyed.

What a mix of emotions it would be when you are excited to see how the fans are going to like Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End and at the same time you know that this is it.
