DX12 is a Part of Frostbite, is Mass Effect Andromeda Using DX12?

Mass Effect Andromeda might use DX12 as developer has shared Frostbite's adaption of DX12.

Frostbite is one of the most talked about development tools in the gaming industry. We have seen what it can do in Battlefield Games, it was also used in Need for Speed.

Now, it looks like Frostbite is getting a performance boost, as it is using DX12. According to Stefan Boberg of EA DICE, DX12 is already a part of Frostbite.

However, he didn’t mention which of their games is using DX12.

If I had to guess, I would say Mass Effect: Andromeda and the next Battlefield game are using DX12 in Frostbite. Both Mass Effect Andromeda and Battlefield V are being released in 2016, so it is a good chance they will support DX12.

Frostbite using DX12 is nothing surprising as the company worked with AMD on Mantle; and AMD is front and center when it comes to DX12 adaption. The company recently announced that DX12 games will be partnering with AMD.

We’ll know how things turn out in the coming months.
