Resident Evil HD Remaster Breaks Sales Records for Capcom
The recently released Resident Evil HD Remaster has gone on to become the fastest selling digital game in Capcom’s history in both North America and Europe, the company has announced.
That wasn’t the only sales record that the game managed to make. According to an official press release, Resident Evil HD Remaster was also the “biggest selling day one digital title” in the PlayStation Network’s history. Unfortunately, the publisher did not share figures or inform us about the titles that previously held the records so as to do a simple comparison.
From the other side, Sony announced that the title was the top-selling PS3 and PS4 game of January, even though it was released late in the month.
“It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have enjoyed this new release,” producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said in a statement. “The team here at Capcom Japan have worked hard to bring the game to the latest generation of consoles and we are thrilled at this news on its performance.”
Resident Evil HD Remaster was released on January 20 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The remake of the 2002 classic may just remind Capcom of what fans have been expecting from Resident Evil titles all these years. It might be worthwhile now to keep an eye out for upcoming titles in the series, including Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
