How to Unlock Hyrule Warriors Characters, Weapons and Modes

Throughout the course of game, players will come across different unlockables in the form of weapons, new characters, and even game modes. In this guide, I’ll talk about all of these unlockables and how to acquire them.

The Armies of Ruin: Hyrule Field

Free Mode
After completing The Armies of Ruin: Hyrule Field, you unlock Free Mode. This mode allows you to complete any already completed scenario with the warrior of your choice – no class restrictions.

Adventure Mode
You unlock Adventure Mode after completing The Armies of Ruin: Hyrule Field. Having 128 different scenarios, the Adventure Mode is a proof of how huge of a game Hyrule Warriors is.

Take out your best arsenal and test your mettle in this ridiculously difficult challenge mode.

Gallery
After completing The Armies of Ruin: Hyrule Field, you unlock Gallery. This needs no explanation! You can access Gallery from the Main Menu and see all of your unlocked warriors in the game.

Impa
Impa is another playable character in Hyrule Warriors and is unlocked after completing The Armies of Ruin: Hyrule Field. Wielding a big knife, Impa enjoys a long range and water magic attacks. Furthermore, she has pretty strong damage output and agility.

The Sheikah Tribesman: Eldin Caves

Apothecary’s Supplies
Completing The Sheikah Tribesman: Eldin Caves will make the apothecary increase the supplies. This supply once again increases after seven Skulltulas are found.

Fire Rod
At the end of The Sheikah Tribesman: Eldin Caves, you’ll also unlock Link’s Fire Rod – only if you opened the chest containing it.

Sheik
Sheik is another playable character in the game unlocked after completing The Sheikah Tribesman: Eldin Caves. With increased agility and decent damage, she’s a nice addition to your squad.

Sorceress of the Woods: Faron Woods

Lana
Lana is another playable character in the game that joins your battalion after the completion of Sorceress of the Woods: Faron Woods. She has pretty decent damage output and enjoys strong range.

Smithy
You unlock Smithy after completing Sorceress of the Woods: Faron Woods. Smithy allows players to take skills from the weak weapons and transform them into strong.

The Sorceress of the Valley: Valley of Seers

Lana’s Spear
You’ll come across this as a sealed weapon in the West Keep which will transform into Deku’s Spear at the end of The Sorceress of the Valley: Valley of Seers.

Land of Twilight: Twilight Field

Midna
This character unlocks after the completion of Land of Twilight: Twilight Field. Midna has mix of weak and strong attacks with varying damage; her weak attacks do below-average damage, but strong attacks have really good damage output.

The Shadow King: Palace of Twilight

Lana’s Sealing Tome
You will receive another version of Lana’s Book of Sorcery by capturing the Lower Level Keep during The Shadow King: Palace of Twilight.

Land of Myth: Death Mountain

Apothecary’s Increased Supplies
Collecting seven normal Skulltula will increase Apothecary’s supplies.

Darunia
After the completion of Land of Myth: Death Mountain, you’ll unlock Darunia as a playable character. Although this character is lagging behind others when it comes to range and agility, but his damage output is insane.

Impa’s Biggoron’s Knife
If you acquired the sealed weapon in the E. Boulder Keep, you’ll receive Impa’s Biggoron’s Knife at the end of Land of Myth: Death Mountain.

The Water Temple: Lake Hylia

Sheik’s Second-Level Harp
Capture the Temple Face Keep in The Water Temple: Lake Hylia which reveal a chest containing the sealed weapon which will transform into Sheik’s Second-Level Harp.

Land in the Sky: Skyloft

Fi
Upon the completion of Land in the Sky: Skyloft, you’ll unlock Fi as a playable character. The most unique thing about this character is that she doesn’t carry a weapon and transforms into a sword.

Sealed Ambition: Sealed Grounds

Link’s White Sword
You need to control the East Cannon Keep in Sealed Ambition: Sealed Grounds which will get you a sealed weapon. This sealed weapon will transform into Link’s White Sword at the end of the scenario.

The Sacred Sword: Temple of the Sacred Sword

Zelda’s Glittering Rapier
By capturing S. Temple Hall Keep in The Sacred Sword: Temple of the Sacred Sword, you’ll make a Treasure Chest appear which will contain a sealed weapon. Upon completion of this scenario, this sealed weapon will transform into Zelda’s Glittering Rapier.

Princess Zelda
The much-awaited Princess Zelda becomes available as a playable character after the completion of The Sacred Sword: Temple of the Sacred Sword. She is one of my personal favorite warriors to use in the game.

Shining Beacon: Valley of Seers

Ganondorf
The end of Shining Beacon: Valley of Seers marks the entry of Ganondorf as a playable character in your party. This king of darkens will mostly certainly prove to be worthy addition to your squad with his unstoppable attacks.

Liberation of the Triforce: Ganons Tower

Hero Mode
Upon the completion of Liberation of the Triforce: Ganons Tower, you’ll unlock the option to play on the Hero Mode difficulty. This should only be played by those who possess the ultimate courage or like to challenge themselves.

Hard Difficulty Gold Skulltulas
These only appear after a player has completed the Legend Mode on Normal Difficulty, but we’ve already covered them in our Gold Skulltulas Locations Guide.
