Find out where to look for and collect all the items in Skyward Sword and how you can upgrade these items, weapons and gear

You can’t survive the ancient evils in Skyward Sword, if you don’t come prepared with all the necessary weapons, items, equipment, and gear in the dungeon. Finding unique items in The Legend of Zelda can be a tiring thing, considering you will have to complete certain tasks before these items will be given to you as a reward. However, this Zelda Skyward Sword Items Locations guide will help you find all these items.

Most of these come as a reward or you can buy them for set price of Gratitude Crystals. Remaining can be crafted using different raw materials on top of your current item in the Scrap Shop, which will cost you Gold, but it does upgrade your item to an enhanced version of your old item.

Before we go in detail about where you can find different items in Skyward Sword, let’s first talk about how you can upgrade your weapon:

How To Upgrade Your Items in Skyward Sword
You can upgrade/enchant your items and equipment in the game by going to Scrap Shop located in the Skyloft Bazaar.

You should look for a large complex ‘Bazaar’ at the centre of the town with large Rupee icons at its entrance. Head inside and look for the scrap shop run by a Blacksmith.

Following are the items that you can find in Skyward Sword. All the items are categorized by type so you shouldn’t experience any issue in finding what you are looking for.

Swords

Your trust worthy partner when things get tough.

Practice Sword
Location: Skyloft
Go to the Sparring Hall to train with the knight instructor once you discover that your Loftwing has gone missing. He’ll allow you to take a sword with you if your track down your bird after successfully completing the training. You can use this sword to Sword slash, stab Spin Attack, and Jump Attack.

Goddess Sword
Location: Skyloft Shrine
Follow Fi past through a series of objects after you wake up to see that Zelda gets sucked down to the surface. Go into the Goddess Statue to access the Skyloft Shrine. Withdraw the sword from its pedestal to make it yours. It can be used for Skyward Strike, Dowsing, and Fi-Captioning.

Goddess Longsword
This sword was previously the Goddess Sword which you can obtain after you infuse it with Farore’s Flame. This’ll increase its reach and attack power.

Goddess White Sword
It was previously the Goddess Longsword, which can be modified by infusing it with Nayru’s Flame. It can now take out many objects with the Dowsing ability.

Master Sword
It was previously the Goddess White Sword which can be further modified by infusing it with Din’s Flame. It has the power to repel evil.

Shields

Shields help you survive longer when you are up against tough enemies and play more serious role in the combat comparatively.

Iron Shield
Location: Skyloft Bazaar
If you defeat the in Skyview Temple, you would be able to buy the Iron Shield from the Skyloft Bazaar for 100 rupees. It is moderately durable and better than the Wooden Shield. It is weak to melee attacks, magic, and electricity.

Wooden Shield
Location: Skyloft Bazaar
This sword can be bought from the Skyloft Bazaar for 50 rupees. It is weak in durability, to fire, magic and, melee attacks. You can upgrade it in the Scrap Shop which will increase its durability.

Hylian Shield
Location: Lanayru Gorge
It is extremely durable, hence indestructible because it has the power of a God, which protects it. You can complete the nine boss battles in the Thunder Dragon’s battle challenge with it.

Sacred Shield
Location: Skyloft Bazaar
Buy it from the Skyloft Bazaar after you beat the Imprisoned for the first time. It is moderately durable and has a Shield Meter which will gradually replenish due to divine magic. You can block most of the attacks using this shield.

Shield Upgrades

Banded Shield
It is upgraded from the Wooden Shield at the Scrap Shop and requires items like Amber Relic (2), Monster Claw (1), Jelly Blob (1) and will cost 30 rupees for the upgrade. It is more durable in strength compared to Wooden Shield and will help you survive longer.

Braced Shield
It is upgraded from the Banded Shield at the Scrap Shop that will require Amber Relic (3), Monster Claw (2), Tumbleweed (2), and Ornamental Skull (1). It is the strongest Wooden Shield that can even block fire and electric attacks.

Reinforced Shield
It is upgraded from the Iron Shield at the Scrap Shop and requires Eldin Ore (2), Monster Claw (2), Ornamental Skull (2) and cost 50 rupees. This upgrade increases durability of the shield.

Fortified Shield
It is upgraded from Reinforced Shield at the Scrap Shop , which requires Eldin Ore (3), Monster Claw (3), Tumbleweed (3), and Blue Bird Feather (1). It is the strongest Iron Shield in the game but does not work well against electricity.

Divine Shield
It is upgraded from the Sacred Shield at the Scrap Shop that will require Dusk Relic (1), Bird Feather (2), Ornamental Skull (1) and is stronger than the Sacred Shield. It can take a lot of damage.

Goddess Shield
It is upgraded from the Divine Shield at the Scrap Shop and requires Dusk Relic (4), Bird Feather (3), Monster Horn (4), and Blue Bird Feather (1). It will cost you 150 rupees. It has its self regenerating powers of its own can bear some serious damage.

Equipment

These are your general purpose items – you will need them to perform the general tasks, be it bug collection or digging.

Bug Net
Location: Beedle’s Airshop
Use it to catch insects in the game. You’ll be able to purchase it for 50 rupees. After you catch an insect, you can use it to make Potions.

Bombs
Location: Earth Temple
Help Ledd against the monsters in the Earth Temple and you will receive a Bomb Bag. Use it to carry bombs and make them blow things up when you need to.

Bow
Location: Lanayru Sandship
Bow and arrows are the stronger part of Link’s inventory which can be obtained as a Dungeon item in the Sandship. You can use it to knock enemies down from a distance. It can fire powerful long-ranged
projectiles that can deal some serious damage.

Beetle
Location: Skyview Temple
Defeat Stalfos in the egg-shaped structure near the heart of the Skyview Temple and you will get this beetle as a reward. Use it to snipe spider webs or cut through the Baba stems. Basically it is a remote-controlled drone which can be used to go through places which are hard to reach.

Gust Bellows
Location: Lanayru Mining Facility
It is a Dungeon item of the Lanayru Mining Facility, that unleashes a gust of wind, which can blow enemies away. It can also blow some environmental features which can uncover hidden secrets.

Slingshot
Location: Faron Woods
It is given to you by Bucha, the Kikwi elder for fighting against the monster that you take down during missing Kikwi. It can be used to stun foes and fire weak projectiles.

Clawshots
Location: Nayru’s Silent Realm
Finish the trail in the Nayru’s Silent Realm to obtain the Clawshots which can let you climb towers, cliffs and other high structures. You can also use it to pull yourself to enemies.

Whip
Location: Ancient Cistern
It acts as a long-range weapon and is a Dungeon item of the Ancient Cistern. Any enemy in its range will get a shock of the system. It is hard to control though.

Equipment Upgrades

Big Bug Net
It is upgraded from Bug Net at the Scrap Shop that can be used to catch more insects.

Scattershot
It is upgraded from Slingshot at the Scrap Shop and requires items like Dusk Relic, Amber Relic (2), Jelly Blob (3) and costs 50 rupees. Upgrade results in wider area of damage.

Iron Bow
It is upgraded from the Bow at the Scrap Shop and increases attack power, hence has more potential than the Bow.

Sacred Bow
It is upgraded from the Iron Bow at the Scrap Shop and increases attack power to its maximum limit and makes it an ultimate weapon in ranged combat situations.

Hook Beetle
It is upgraded from Beetle by one of the Ancient Robots in the Lanayru Desert. It can grab onto small objects and drop its payload where necessary.

Quick Beetle
It is upgraded from the Hook Beetle at the Scrap Shop and require items like Ancient Flower (2), Hornet Larvae (2), Golden Skull (1), and costs 50 rupees. It gains additions speed and allows you to travel it further after the upgrade.

Tough Beetle
Quick Beetle can be upgraded to Tough Beetel at the Scrap Shop but needs materials like Ancient Flower (2), Amber Relic (4), Blue Bird Feather (1), Goddess Plume (1) and costs you 50 rupees. It provides an extra burst of speed and can also fly for a long duration.

Satchels and Pouches

They are used to store your ammunitions and other back up items that you can use later, or when you need them.

Seed Satchel
Location: Faron Woods
It can hold all the Deku Seeds and the ammo for Slingshot as it is given to you by Bucha along with the Slingshot.Increase its capacity by upgrading it as you’ll be carrying limited amount of ammo.

Quiver
Location: Sand Ship
It is obtained as a Dungeon item in the Sandship along with the Bow which is used to carry arrows for the Bow. Expand its capacity by upgrading.

Adventure Pouch
Location: Skyloft
Once you receive the Hero’s Tunic, given to you by Fledge – It can hold all your supplies like bottles, shields equipment.

Bomb Bag
Location: Earth Temple
It is given to you by Ledd with some Bombs in the Earth Temple. It can be used to carry all your Bombs.

Gear

They can be used as standard items at several places like playing a Harp or swimming etc.

Water Dragon’s Scale
Location: Farore’s Silent Realm
It can be used to swim underwater. You will get it after ending the trial in the Silent Realm of the Forest. You’ll also gain the abilities of the Water Dragon.

Goddess’s Harp
Location: Temple of Time
Get it from Zelda when you meet her in the Temple of Time. It can be used by learning new magical melodies that can help you in completing your quests throughout the game. It can play songs for different effects.

Fireshield Earrings
Location: Silent Realm of the Volcano
It will guard you from fire or areas where you cannot bear the heat and it will normally burn you up. You can gain these after you completing the trial in the Silent Realm of the Volcano.

Sailcloth
Location: Skyloft
Get victorious in the birdriding competition during the Wing Ceremony and Zelda will give it to you as a momento. Use this Sailcloth to glide, catch updrafts, and parachute while skydriving.

Digging Mitts
Location: Eldin Volcano
Dig the pieces of the key inthe Earth Temple and receive this item from Mogma. These gloves can be used to dig for treasure and are useful in tracking down objects of great importance.
Gear Upgrade

Mogma Mitts
Upgrade Digging Mitts and you will have this item. It’s a Dungeon item dropped in Fire Sanctuary. It has the ability to dig through underground for shortcuts or pathways and can break rocks that block your path.

Extra Quiver
It has the capacity of five arrows per upgrade which can be increased after you upgrade it in the Scrap Shop.

Extra Seed Satchel
It has the capacity of 10 extra Deku Seeds per upgrade and can be bought from the Scrap Shop or Beedle’s Airshop for 100 rupees.

Extra Bomb Bag
It has the capacity of holding five extra bombs per upgrade and you can increase this amount by upgrading it at the Scrap Shop.

Extra Wallet
It can let you carry up to 300 rupees thus increasing its capacity by two times and can be upgraded at the Beedle’s Airshop.

Medium Wallet
It can let you carry up to 500 rupees and can be bought for five Gratitude Crystals at the Batreaux’s House.

Big Wallet
It has the capacity of 1000 rupees and can be bought for thirty Gratitude Crystals at the Batreaux’s House.

Gaint Wallet
It has the capacity to sore up to 5000 rupees and can be bought for fifty Gratitude Crystals at the Batreaux’s House.

Tycoon Wallet
It has the capacity of storing 9000 rupees and can be bought from Batreaux’s House for eighty Gratitude Crystals.

Adventure Pouch Expansion
It has the capacity of a single gear and can be bought for 300 rupees at the Beedle’s Airshop.

Potions

These are drinkable brews that you can store in the bottles which you can later on access from the Adventure Pouch.

Air Potion
Location: Potion Shop
Buy it from the Potion Shop as it is useful in preventing your Oxygen meter from dropping for a short duration.

Stamina Potion
Location: Potion Shop
It can be purchased from the Potion Shop and can be used to prevent the Stamina meter from depleting for a short duration of time.

Revitalizing Potion
Location: Potion Shop,Sealed Grounds
It can restore up to 4 of your hearts and can also reverse the damage to your shield. Buy it from the Potion Shop.

Heart Potion
Location: Potion Shop
Buy it from the Potion Shop and use it to restore your hearts up to eight.

Fairy
Location: Everywhere
You can obtain a fairy by capturing it in your Empty Bottle which can revive you and restore six hearts.

Guardian Potion
Location: Potion Shop
It can help to decrease the damage that is taken from foes for a short time and you’ll be able to buy it from Potion Shop.

Potion Upgrades

Stamina Potion (+1)
It is upgraded from the Stamina Potion and has increasesthe effect of not reducing the Stamina up to three minutes and will require insects like Volcanic Ladybug (3), Sky Stag Beetle (2), Gerudo Dragonfly (2), and Faron Grasshopper (1), and It will cost 20 rupees to upgrade.

Air Potion (+1)
It is upgraded from the Air Potion and helps you maintain oxygen level under water for 3 minutes.

Guardian Potion (+1)
It is upgraded from the Guardian Potion and will prevent you from taking any damage until the effect period.

Heart Potion (+1)
It is upgraded from the Heart Potion that restores complete health and will require insects like Woodland Rhino Beetle (1), Blessed Butterfly (3), and Volcanic Ladybug (1). It costs 20 rupees.

Heart Potion (+2)
It is upgraded from the Heart Potion(+1) that has two servings and requires insects like Blessed Butterfly (3), Deku Hornet (3), Sand Cicada (1), Eldin Roller (1) and cost 30 rupees.

Revitalizing Potion (+1)
It is upgraded from the Revitalizing Potion and restores eight hearts instead of four.

Revitalizing Potion (+2)
It is upgraded from Revitalizing Potion(+1) and has two servings.

Medals

Medals are items that will bestow their various effects like increasing your health or revealing items on map.

Heart Medal
Location: Different Sky Islands
It will help you increase the chances of appearance of Recovery Hearts, which can help you survive longer in hero mode.

Life Medal
Location: Beedle’s Airship Shop
You can buy it from Beedle’s Airship Shop for 800 rupees. It adds one heart container to your life meter.

Treasure Medal
Location: Northeast Island
It can be gained from the Goddess Cube Chest. It makes enemies drop treasure occasionally. You can then use them to sell and make Gold.

Bug Medal
Location: Beedle’s Airship Shop
It can be bought for 1000 rupees from Beedle’s Airship Shop and can be used to reveal the locations of Bugs on the map that can be added to your collection.

Cursed Medal
Location: Batreaux’s House
It increases the chance of finding treasures and rupees in the field and prevents you from using anything in your Adventure Pouch like Potions. You can get it by paying 30 Gratitude Crystals to Batreaux.

Rupee Medal
Location: Different Sky Islands
It will definitely increase the chance of appearance of rupees in the field. It will help you save cash for buying potions, upgrades, and new gear.
