Zelda: Breath of The Wild Map Size is Smaller Than GTA 5 and The Witcher 3

Here's a video comparing the Zelda: Breath of The Wild map size; it is smaller than GTA 5 and Witcher 3 but 12 times the size of Twilight Princess

In the Game Critics Awards 2016 Nominees, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been named in three categories, which is among the highest few this year. And why not, the game is expected to ship over 10 million units when it releases.

One of the reasons for all that hype is of course the expanse of the game. Nintendo has been boasting ever since the game was officially revealed at this year’s E3 conference, that the open world of this title is going to be the largest you have ever seen in the franchise.

To be exact, Nintendo EPD (Entertainment Planning & Development) says that the Zelda: Breath of The Wild map size is going to be 12 times that of the size of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

That is a pretty huge map size if you are looking at Nintendo games and the games that have previously been released in The Legend of Zelda series.

However, it has been revealed in a size comparison video below, that despite being so large, the world of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still smaller than the size of Grand Theft Auto 5 and other games like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.

Of course we don’t expect Nintendo to be aiming for such an accolade because their intention is not that of Rockstar Games’ – these guys literally revolutionized the way open world gaming is looked at, and while exploration is a key in Zelda games, that is one of the primary objectives, not the primary object.
