Xbox Boss, Phil Spencer, talks about the bad reviews for ReCore and how the game is good and sequel to Ryse: Son Of Rome.

Before the release of Forza Horizon 3 and Gears Of War 4, Microsoft was not having a good year with exclusive games such as ReCore, which got average reviews from critics. Recently, Phil Spencer said that critics intentionally gave bad reviews for ReCore, and now Xbox head talks more about the review and sequel to Ryse: Sone Of Rome.

Like ReCore, Ryse: Son of Rome also did not get good reviews, but still it has potential to become a franchise. Speaking with Game Informer, Phil Spencer talked about the reviews for the game and sequel to Ryse: Son Of Rome.

The reason I say all this is, on Xbox One, I look at ReCore and I’m having a really good time with it. I wish the review scores were higher, but I love the lead character and I love the gameplay. And you can see that, some years from now, people will want to play another version of it because the memories that they have – even though it wasn’t a 95-rated game – stick with them and they mean something over time.

He further added that he finds it funny that gamers ask for the sequel to Ryse, which was a launch title for Xbox One, and now gamers see that it has something to offer.

I always chuckle a little bit when people come up to me and say, ‘Hey, I want Ryse 2!’ When Ryse was a launch game for Xbox One it ran into some review headwinds. Now when people think back it’s like, ‘Okay, there’s something there.

Personally I think Ryse: Son Of Rome is a good game, given it has its issue with many aspects, but it can’t be denied that it has a lot more to offer, specifically with its setting in Roman Empire.
