Xbox boss Phil Spencer once stated that Xbox One will get mouse and keyboard support. But for a while we didn’t hear any updates on the topic. Many were wondering what is going on.
So is this still happening or has there been change of plans? Well, according to Phil Spencer, it will be done. When asked about it, he said that “Yes, we will get this done.” We don’t know when, but support for a mouse and keyboard will happen.
It is great news for gamers who prefer using a mouse and keyboard for FPS games. Some interesting questions come to mind right now like should PC MOBAs be ported to Xbox One now? Are League of Legends and Dota 2 feasible on this platform?
I recently discussed how League of Legends and Dota 2 can’t be on Xbox One and PS4. The main issue is controls as you may need around 20 buttons to accommodate all the skills, abilities, short-keys and skill-shots.
The problem can easily be solved if Xbox One had keyboard and mouse support, which it will in the future. Surely, many PC gamers would never support the idea of their exclusive games coming to Xbox but since Xbox exclusives like Quantum Break are coming to PC, why can’t some PC games be ported to Xbox?
Hardware isn’t the issue as Xbox One is powerful enough to handle both League of Legends and Dota 2. Valve and Riot Games should consider porting Dota2 and League of Legends to Xbox One.
What is your take on this? Do you think League of Legends and Dota 2 should be ported to consoles if they have mouse and keyboard support? Let us know in the comments below.
