With Black Ops 3, eSports Tournaments Will Be Played on PS4

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 eSports events will be played on PlayStation 4, according to Treyarch.

Just recently we came to know that Sony and Activision has signed a deal, giving PlayStation platforms early access to DLC and other material. Joint promotions were also in order too as part of the deal, but many wondered what will happen to the eSports scene.

While the answer was not at all hard to guess, official statements were needed in order for us to be sure. That statement is now here, yes, Sony’s PlayStation 4 is kicking Xbox out of the eSports scene for Call of Duty. The latest entry, Black ops 3, will be played on PlayStation 4 during eSports events.

Treyarch has announced that PlayStation is the new home for Call of Duty eSports scene.

Previously, Xbox dominated Call of Duty eSports events and got early access to DLC. According to Phil Spencer, Sony is buying third party deals, and this has nothing to do with the fact that is has a bigger install-base compared to Xbox One.

Whatever the case, the fact is that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is scoring third party deals with many developers and publishers, including Bungie for Destiny.

Treyarch will release Call of Duty Black Ops 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this November.

And did you know? Nvidia is helping out with the PC version of Black Ops 3.
