In a recent interview, Quest Designer and PR Manager at CD Projekt Red discussed the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion Blood and Wine – detailing possible release window, world size, visual improvements among other things.
According to the developers, the area of The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will be as large as all islands of Skellige combined. As previously confirmed at PAX East, the expansion will also include a new Gwent deck named Skellige.

Speaking of release date, the developers have not specified anything right now, but it should come out before E3 2016. Coming to visual fidelity, the developers stated that the graphics for the new area in the expansion have been improved and CD Projekt Red was thinking of replacing the grass on the entire map with new/improved grass. You can check out the Skellige map reference – attached below – to get a better understanding of how huge the expansion will be:
Aside from the upcoming Blood and Wine expansion, the developers stated that they do not plan to remaster The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings or bundle all three games into a single package. They may, however, think about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition with all DLCs, updates, and expansions.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One with Hearts of Stone expansion already released.
