State of Decay 2 Will Be At Microsoft’s E3 Conference?

According to a leak by Kotaku writer Jason Schreier, Microsoft may be unveiling State of Decay 2 at E3 this year, but what will it be like?

We may be seeing a State of Decay 2 at Microsoft’s E3 conference, if rumors from Kotaku writer Jason Schreier are true.

Microsoft’s third-person zombie apocalypse adventure game State of Decay first released on the Xbox 360 back in 2013. It got fairly positive reviews and sold very well, despite its own technical problems, and even got a remastered edition on the Xbox One called State of Decay: Survival Edition that had both DLCs in addition to the base game.

State of Decay mainly focused around your character coming back from a seemingly normal camping trip to discover that a massive zombie apocalypse had broken out, butchering the population of Trumbull Valley, the game’s setting. With no one coming to help you, you had to gather survivors, address issues among them, and build up your base to hold off the undead.

The game ended with you and your group escaping Trumbull Valley to an uncertain future after discovering that the local water supply was infected by dead zombies, as you set off into an uncertain future. That sets up a good place for State of Decay 2 to start in, at least.

The game also had two downloadable content packs: Breakdown (which added a Sandbox Mode and seven different tiers of danger for you to survive in) and Lifeline, which told the side of the military group that came in the later stages of the original game.

A State of Decay 2 could help Undead Labs, the developers of the game, to address some of the more minor complaints that many gamers had for it. They could also help to add things like new weapons, new vehicles, and better base-building mechanics to make the game an even more involved survival game.

There are even rumors that State of Decay 2 could be an online game, allowing players to gather together in order to help each other survive the zombie apocalypse.
