Will Red Dead Redemption 2 Get a Story DLC?

Rockstar ignored story DLC and focused releasing content for GTA Online. This has raised the question which is "Will Red Dead Redemption 2 Get a Story DLC?"

Story DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 is something that every fan wants to know if it is coming out not. Rockstar Games ignored the single-player DLC and focused releasing content for GTA Online. This has raised the question which is “Will Red Dead Redemption 2 Get a Story DLC?”

When GTA 5 launched, fans found many hints throughout the game pointing towards the single-player DLC. However, time passed and no story DLC was released as Rockstar kept rolling out new content for GTA Online.

This is the very reason that has fans worried about Red Dead Redemption 2 Story DLC. While Rockstar Games hasn’t really said anything but, the evidence suggests that we might be getting Story DLC for the game.

The first thing that suggests RDR2 Story DLC is coming is the locked away Mexico location in the game. For those who don’t know, you can glitch your way into Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The fact that Rockstar Games has blocked access to this location in the game, it is clear that the studio has plans for it. Not only that, the location is also quite detailed.

However, there is a possibility that Rockstar Games will be using this location in Red Dead Online. But, I am still convinced that we will be seeing story DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2.

The reason why GTA V didn’t get any single-player DLC is the fact that there weren’t many things that in the game that was left undiscovered. On the other hand, Red Dead Redemption 2’s world is ripe for some new story content.

Like, spoiler alert, early on in the game we learn that John Marston took a year away from the gang. In the DLC, the developers could explore what John Marston did during that 1 year time.

We can also get a DLC showcasing the botched Blackwater heist that is the reason for the gang to move from one place to another. A story DLC will be a perfect way to illustrate what actually went down.

Not only that, there are a number of characters in the game, whose story can be explored in the DLC. Better yet, Rockstar can use DLC to feature episodic DLC detailing the life of each gang member. Sort of like how Square Enix did with Final Fantasy 15.

Aside from speculation, Take-Two Interactive has also noted that DLC is a very lucrative business model and they don’t want to skip it for Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to Take-Two, it is something Rockstar Games would like to contemplate in the future.

“It is a very lucrative model for us; it is a very compelling model for consumers because it allows them to continue to engage in the game in a way they are used to engaging with the game.”

With everything said, it is possible and there is an opportunity for Rockstar Games to include story DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2. The studio might have plans for it but, we will have to wait and watch to see how it unfolds.
