A new Super Smash Bros. is coming to Nintendo Switch this year and looking forward to its release there are some characters we’d love to see included in the game’s roster. Travis Touchdown might be one of those characters as No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Back creator has indicated.
During PAX East 2018, LevelUp had the chance to talk with Suda51 about No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Back, its development for Nintendo Switch and what to expect next. One of the questions he had to answer to is about the possibility of seeing Travis in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. He replied:
Of course, but it’s up to the media people. They have to take a stand and make Nintendo put him in the game.
Travis Touchdown, the protagonist of No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Back is undeniably one of the most iconic characters we’ll get to see in a game close to Super Smash Bros. release. Considering that Nintendo is always open to adding characters from other companies to Super Smash Bros., it is reasonable to think about the possibility of seeing Travis Touchdown in the fighting game that will hit Switch. Also, if we consider that Travis Strikes Again will debut as an exclusive for Nintendo Switch, the idea seems even more legit.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that such a scenario is already in works. What Suda51 basically says is that Nintendo can make this happen if people ask for it. Let’s be real, seeing a character like Travis, with his badass 80’s look and sword is just what we need as a new character in Nintendo’s brawling title. We can even picture him as an Amiibo collectible on our shelves. That would be awesome don’t you think?
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch was revealed on the latest Nintendo Direct and is expected to debut before the end of the year. Its first tournament is expected to take place at this year’s E3.
