What’s Watch Dogs Legion Map Size? Bigger Than Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

One of the most interest part of Watch Dogs Legion’s E3 2019 gameplay is its London map but what exactly is the map size? Here's an idea of it.

Ubisoft’s E3 2019 conference took place a few days ago and arguably Watch Dogs Legion gameplay was its highlight. Ubisoft revealed that Watch Dogs Legion will be set in London, UK and will allow players to play as almost anyone in the game. But what exactly is Watch Dogs Legion map size? Here’s an idea of it.

During Ubisoft’s E3 2019 conference, the company showed off lengthy ten-and-a-half minute gameplay of Watch Dogs Legion. While other gameplay developers such as CD Projekt RED showed off pre-rendered cinematic trailers for their games, Ubisoft focused on showing off an entire gameplay segment.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Watch Dogs Legion’s gameplay was its London map which is captured quite accurately to be honest. But the question remains how large the map will be in-game and how much area of the real London will it be equal to?

The answer is complicated since Ubisoft hasn’t clearly revealed how large the London map will be. But to get an idea of it, we’re going to examine the bus stop seen in the launch video near Piccadilly Circus.

Even though the image is kind of distorted, we can see some areas from the bus routes such as the following:

Kings Cross St Pancras -> Notting Hill Gate -> Battersea -> Brixton -> Elephant -> Tower Bridge -> The City of London -> The Isle of Dogs -> Old Street -> Back to Kings Cross St Pancras.

By taking these areas and roughly marking them out on top of real-life London’s map, we can compare Watch Dog Legion’s map and see how large it will be.

In addition to this, Ubisoft showed off some of Watch Dog Legion’s map after its conference. In its Twitch stream, we can see some of the map around 02:30 mark but its zoomed in.

Fortunately, Reddit user slicshuter managed to stitch together the London map which is down below:

So how big is the map? When we compare it to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s map, another Ubisoft game set in London, we can get an idea of it. Here is Syndicate’s map on top of Legion’s:

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s London was around 3.70km2 and as we can see from the comparison photos, Watch Dog Legion has a bigger map size.

So far, Watch Dog Legion appears to be highly ambitious with its ability to play as almost anyone in London. It features an alternative futuristic version of London where you play as DedSec—a hacking group also featured in previous Watch Dog games. Only this time, you are not a single member of the DedSec, you’re a whole resistance comprised of different members.

Watch Dogs Legion is being developed by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with a March 6, 2020 release date.
