According to a recent report, Ubisoft is investing heavily in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film.
In an interview with the French magazine, Premier, the CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Jean Julian
Baronnet, said that the studio wishes to create a project inspired to the characteristics of Batman Begins and Blade Runner:
We told [Fassbender] that we would build the project together, we had a huge brand and we wanted to make a film that was inspired to the characteristics of Batman Begins and Blade Runner. This is what we aim.
Baronnet also said that the Assassin’s Creed film will not be similar to other projects based on video games – the ones which do not turn out nice. Moreover, he said that the storyline of video game and film are going to be different.
Lastly, Baronnet shared that the investment made by Ubisoft in the production of Assassin’s Creed film is somewhat near $150 to $200 million:
Our biggest challenge is to operate the product for three audiences. The first are the fans of the game, and they have 95 million. There are also film fans mainstream, which will see Spider-Man or Star Wars. And, in parallel, we are also aiming to people who would never think of going to a movie of Assassin’s Creed, and who like independent films.
With that being said, are you looking forward to the Assassin’s Creed movie which is scheduled to release in U.S. next year in December 2016.
