Todd Howard: GTA V Was An Inspiration For Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is inspired by Grand Theft Auto V, according to Todd Howard from Bethesda. They wanted to create a sense of freedom like GTA V.

During a recent interview, Bethesda’s Todd Howard shared more about Fallout 4 and what inspired them to create this massive open-world.

Howard stated that Rockstar’s GTA V has been a huge inspiration for the development team. The team loved the sense of “going anywhere and doing anything” in GTA V, and that’s what they tried to recreate in Fallout 4.

Todd Howard stated:

Well, in our games, we want to give you complete freedom. So, I think of the last few years, I think GTA V had succeeded the most at the same type of thing we try to do. I look at that game and think, “Wow, I just don’t know how they did this.”

That’s what we try to create, that sense of going anywhere and doing anything. GTA V does it so well. It puts you in its world and it makes you its director. It says yes to the player a lot, and that’s what we try to do. It’s just a phenomenal game.

Grand Theft Auto V is not only an inspiration for Fallout 4, it is an inspiration for anybody looking to create an open-world game.

The game was released back in 2013 and since then has sold over 50 million copies around the world. To this day, Rockstar has showed great support for the game and has released regular free content updates.

We sure hope this franchise continue to flourish and keep offering us amazing experiences.

Speaking of amazing, Fallout 4 is nothing short of amazing itself and we will be seeing this game later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
