Fans of The Elder Scrolls series have been patiently waiting for Bethesda Game Studios to announce the exact release date for the much anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6. But now, it seems Bethesda’s Peter Hines might have already suggested 2024 as the release date during an old interview.
Pete Hines, Bethesda’s SVP of Global Marketing and Communications, was interviewed by Eurogamer in October 2018. During the interview, he was asked about two of the biggest games in works by Bethesda Game Studios: Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI. Although the whole interview was quite interesting at that time, it wasn’t until recently a Reddit user managed to deduce a 2024 release date.
“The timeframe for Bethesda Game Studios titles has not changed at all. What changed was our desire to lay out a roadmap of those titles,” Hines told Eurogamer.
Timeframe-wise, it would still be about as long as you’d expect when you look at ‘Fallout 3’ to ‘Skyrim’ to ‘Fallout 4’ to ‘Fallout 76.’ It’s still going to be those periods of time, that hasn’t changed. Or at least, I don’t think it will change from that based on what I know.
From what Hines said back in 2018, if we just put Bethesda’s recent titles in chronological order and see how much time is between them, we’ll get 3-4 years span in between them. The Reddit user then lists Bethesda’s future titles the same way and puts a 3-4 year span in between them. By this calculation, the estimated release date for Bethesda’s much-anticipated RPG, The Elder Scroll 6 comes out to be 2024.
Fallout 76 (2018) -> Starfield (2021) -> The Elder Scrolls 6 (2024).
Another interesting piece of evidence to back this estimation up is that Hines confirmed Bethesda’s newest IP “Starfield” will release earlier than “The Elder Scrolls 6.” during the same interview. It’s only logical that Bethesda Softworks would release one game at a time. Releasing both games in the same year could end up causing a lot of problems as you can imagine. There must be at least 3 years of gap or 4 at most between the two titles.
It is also likely The Elder Scrolls 6 release date is set in 2024 because of the trademark dispute between Bethesda and BookBreeze over “Redfall” as the game’s name. The trademark dispute is still ongoing and hasn’t settled, which means it’s likely it will take a year or two.
It is best to take this with a grain of salt since Bethesda hasn’t confirmed release dates for Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI. The best thing to do is sit and wait, perhaps the upcoming The Elder Scrolls Blades might pass the time till Bethesda comes with an official confirmation.
