Geralt’s journey came to a fitting end with The Witcher 3 and its expansion Blood And Wine. However, developer CD Projekt Red has moved on with the development of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 and fans are wondering if there will be another entry in the franchise.
Well, CD Projekt Red has noted that there will be another entry in the Witcher franchise. Speaking with Polish site Bankier, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński talked about the Witcher franchise and noted that CD Projekt Red will return to the popular franchise one day.
The first three ‘Witchers’ were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game ‘The Witcher 4′. This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher. The Witcher’ is one of two franchises on which to build the future activities of the company,” he says. “Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more.
However, the studio will be completing the Cyberpunk 2077 before it starts work on another entry in the Witcher franchise and the upcoming Cyberpunk game is expected to launch in 2020. Meaning we will have to wait a long time before we get to see a new entry in The Witcher franchise.
Speaking of the Cyberpunk 2077, the developers have confirmed that the game will feature a karma system. However, while many games feature the ability of player choice impacting the game’s world but, it would be very different in Cyberpunk 2077.
According to Mike Pondsmith, creator of the original Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop game, in Cyberpunk 2077 player’s choice will determine the outcome rather than the game calculating player’s actions throughout the game and coming up with a suitable outcome.
One of the binding philosophies of the game is that your actions have consequences And that also goes back to the original sources in the tabletop game. In the tabletop game, there is no system for karma- good things, and so forth. But you can pretty much guess that if you blow away some guy in a gang, his gang’s going to remember, and they’re going to find you. That is realistic, that is the way things really go.
What would you like to see in the next entry in The Witcher franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
