A couple of hours ago, Platinum Games got the privilege of being the first studio to delay a game in 2016 when they announced that they need more time scaling Scalebound up to the expectations.
Well, for starters those expectations were actually there because of what the developers promised to give us at the same time when they promised to release the game in 2016. Anyhow, that won’t be happening now since Platinum has moved the game to 2017 now.
Honestly, a 2016 release date might just have been too ambitious given the expanse of the game that they have been boasting of; yet we kept hope because it was Platinum Games developing the title.
The developers have said that they “will be launching the game in 2017” because “in order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations” and that it will give them “bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences,” but the truth is, they were always going to need that extra time.
Kamiya and delays usually come together and same was the case with Wonderful 101. The game was delayed, it got better and won numerous hearts.
The only difference between his delays and most of the others is that he can get away with them and the delays actually pay off. We are sincerely hoping that the same happens with Scalebound because the whole idea of companionship with a dragon is just too rad to be wasted – among dozens of other things that have hyped this one.
Were you expecting the Scalebound delay?
