The sequel to 2013’s Playstation 3 exclusive The Last of Us might release sooner than expected.
While Naughty Dog has yet to confirm anything, there have been several reports suggesting that the developer has already started working on the game. Just a week ago, a trademark titled ‘Days Gone’ from Sony Computer Entertainment was spotted online which is speculated to be related to The Last of Us.
This is not all! The game’s Creative Director Neil Druckmann has also confirmed that Bruce Straley and he have some ideas for The Last of Us 2, but they need to finish working on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End first:
When Bruce and I moved over to Uncharted 4, we were brainstorming ideas for ‘The Last of Us 2’ with new characters; ideas for TLOU 2 with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas.
Aside from Neil Druckmann, Shuhei Yoshida has also discussed plans for a sequel saying:
We haven’t confirmed The Last of Us 2, but ever since the launch of the first game, people like Neil are talking about some ideas for a potential sequel, some experiments that they want to do. It’s just talks around development. We have no confirmed information for the sequel. But, like many people, we wish to see what it’s going to be like, how the story’s going to develop, what life these characters have after what happened in The Last of Us.
Since we already know that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is slated to release on Apr. 26, 2016; it is highly likely that Naughty Dog is already done with the game and may have already started working on the TLOU, but once again, we cannot know until the developer state anything official!
