Tekken 7 Asuka Strategy Guide
Playing as Asuka
Asuka Kazama made her appearance in Tekken 5 and her playstyle revolves around CHs. She has an array of long-ranged low/mid poke options that enable her to keep her opponent at an arm’s length. These keepout options, sometimes, force her opponent into whiffing attacks that she can safely punish with f + 2 with incredible range. Even at close range, she has multiple tools to stay safe.
For instance, she not only brilliant mix-ups but also a safe i14 CH launcher and reversals. While playing as her, try to frame trap the opponent more than anything else. It is important to realize that her offensive capabilities are limited. However, her jab strings and close-ranged poke options are one of the best in the game. Moreover, she possesses brilliant mid launchers on NH and CH.
There are, however, some weaknesses as well. In Tekken 7, her WS punishment options and jab punishment options are arguably the worst in the game. Due to this, if she is against an opponent who is strong defensively, she will struggle a lot. Coming to her combo potential, her standard launcher is d/f + 2 and f + 4 is a simple Screw! If you are looking for an easy BnB combo, try d/f + 2, f + 4, Screw!, f, f + 2, 1.
In case you need something with more damage, try d/f + 2, f + 4, Screw!, WR + 3, 1 + 4, f + 1 + 2. However, do note that this combo is incredibly difficult to execute because it requires you to connect WR + 3. As for the wall combos, try b + 4, 2, 3 or 1 + 4, 2, d + 4. Once again, do note that the second combo requires a lot of timing.
Overall, Asuka is one of the easiest characters in the game with a range of mix-ups, a strong CH game, safe mid launchers, and strong okizeme. Try to keep her weaknesses in mind!
