With the advent of virtual reality and augmented reality headsets such as Oculus Rift and HoloLens, the porn industry is looking forward to provide audience with new ways to experience porn.
The porn industry and technology has always had a strong relationship and is planning to take it one step ahead with the release of Microsoft’s HoloLens.
Earlier this year, SugarDVD announced that it was working on an application for the Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard, but now it has put that on hold to experiment with HoloLens. Speaking of this with VentureBeat; SugarDVD representative Rebecca Bolen gave the following statement:
Oculus’s technology doesn’t seem to be at the place we want it to right now for fully customized content. With augmented reality, there seems to be more possibilities for interactivity. Rather than just witnessing a 360-degree peripheral of adult content, we want users to be able to interact with their surroundings.
Moreover, SugarDVD is also asking Microsoft to let them participate in its HoloLens Research Program – announced earlier this month. To put into Bolen’s words:
Where the adult industry innovates, the tech industry is quick to flourish.
Lastly, the company is posing questions such as what a one-night stand is going to be in 20 years and things like concept of sexting in near future – not to mention the downloadable body scans:
Instead of Kim Kardashian’s photos ‘breaking the Internet,’ it could be her body scan, for downloadable use in augmented reality.
