Sucker Punch May Be Working On Infamous Remastered for PS4

Sucker Punch Productions might be working on an Infamous Remastered version for the Playstation 4 that might be releasing on August 10.

If you wanted to feel what it was like to be a superhero and not have people call you Spider-Man or Batman, Sucker Punch Productions was able to scratch that itch with the Infamous games, the first of which came out for the Playstation 3. Now, there are rumors that Sucker Punch is developing an Infamous Remastered version of the game (called Infamous: Lightning Edition) for the Playstation 4.

While Infamous: Second Son was one of the first games that came out on the Playstation 4, the original Infamous started off the series with the story of a bike messenger named Cole, who opens a package he’s told to deliver and causes a massive explosion in the metropolis of Empire City (a thinly-veiled pastiche of New York). Cole also got lightning superpowers from the event, and had to take on three gangs in Empire City that were taking advantage of the chaos.

The game was a novel approach to superhero-ing, as it punished you misusing your powers through a reputation meter, making people more likely to help him if he’s a good hero or more likely to attack him if he acts like a villain.

Infamous also had something of a rivalry with the first Prototype game from Radical Entertainment, and it was apparently heated enough that Benjamin “Yahtzee” Croshaw of Zero Punctuation was able to persuade both studios to send art of their respective characters in lingerie to see who was sexier.

According to the rumor, the Infamous Remastered version will be coming out on August 10, and people that buy it will be given access to a demo for the upcoming superhero game Spider-Man: Homecoming game, also developed by Sucker Punch Productions.

Hopefully the rumor is true, and we may be seeing something about it at E3. If it isn’t, oh well, there’s always Second Son to tide you over until Infamous 3 comes out.
