Steam Summer Sale 2017 is going to kick off on June 22 and will end on July 5. The news comes from a leaked email to a developer from Valve. The information seems legit but should still be taken with a grain of salt.
According to the email, Steam Summer Sale 2017 starts on June 22 at 9:50 AM Pacific and ends on July 5 at 10:05 AM pacific. Details regarding the games on sale are still kept under wraps but as we head closer to the sale the list will likely leak online.
Last year’s Steam Summer Sale was highly successful. When 2016 Steam Summer Sale came to an end, it seemed like despite the event lacking many things that made the sale such a frenzy that it was even more successful. According to Steam Spy data, a site that tracks various information on Steam, the sale made 236 million dollars this year.
This is in contrast to 2015 Steam sale, which only brought in 160 million dollars in revenue. In 2016 Steam Summer Sale 37 million games were sold, in contrast to 33 million in 2015.
It would be interesting to see where the revenue goes this year and how many games Steam sells. The number is expected to be high due to the lack of quality games released in the past year. Sales were down last year overall as most gamers didn’t felt inclined to spend $60. Now that a major portion of last year’s titles are going to be on sale, we can expect a blowout.
