Ghost Recon: Wildlands is hitting storefronts next year and is going to be Ubisoft’s biggest open world game. Stealth will be a major aspect of the game and players are free to play a true “Ghost.” However, keep in mind that stealth is just one option.
According to Ubisoft, they will be offering different tools to players that will allow AI manipulation. As a result, player will be better equipped to complete certain objectives without being noticed. Ubisoft will be sharing more about AI manipulation as we get close to release. But the developer confirmed that we can not complete the entire game without being noticed.
Our objective with Ghost Recon Wildlands it to create an open experience. We propose the objectives and let the players create their strategy. How they reach their objectives is in their hands. This has obvious consequences on how the AI in our game has to be able to adapt to the player at all time. Again, this is a topic we will cover into more detail as we get closer to launch, but I can already confirm that as a Ghost, you will be given a variety of tools, skills and ways to interact with the enemy (and potential allies…) in interesting ways.
There will be instances where the player will have to expose himself (not in a sexual way, of course).
The Ghosts are sent behind enemy lines to create chaos and take down the cartel. As our key element of gameplay is the total freedom of choice we give players in their adventure, we always make sure that stealth, diversion, tactical action or full-on assault always remain possible. However, certain situations will require you to take down targets or expose yourself during the game.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands is set in Bolivia where our Ghosts are trying to fight a drug cartel. Ubisoft’s focus is on solo and 4 player co op. So far we haven’t heard anything about PvP in Bolivia but we may know more about that is the coming months.
Wildlands is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 7, 2017. Ubisoft choose to remain silent about a possible PlayStation 4 and Project Scorpio port.
