Star Wars Battlefront Would See $800m in Revenues, Says SuperData

Star Wars Battlefront will generate around $800 million in revenue, according to a prediction by SuperData.

Star Wars Battlefront is hitting shelves in little over a month. The game is being developed by EA DICE, the same people behind the long running Battlefield franchise.

In the past few months, we have seen some fans being skeptical about how EA is handling things with Star Wars, and the direction they are taking. However, since then the game has grown on us and it is starting look really promising. New modes such as Fighter Squadron have made the game super enticing.

From the looks of it, Battlefront is heading toward commercial success, but we can’t say for sure until the product is actually out. However, Super Data seems pretty sure when it claims that Battlefront will generate little under $800 million dollars in revenue.

The popular research organization also claims that Star Wars Battlefront will sell 10.4 million units in its first 12 months in the market. Keep in mind that these are “optimistic” predictions from SuperData.

Over at the pessimistic side, SuperData predicts minimum of 6.7 million sales with revenues going over $500. Star Wars has a huge fan-base and it wouldn’t be surprising if these predictions turn out to be true.

Like I mentioned, Star Wars Battlefront is being developed by DICE, who is responsible for developing Battlefield. The franchise is currently struggling to maintain the level of success EA expects from such a big IP. Many wondered if the release of Battlefront will play a role in saving Battlefield. While Battlefront’s success may boost DICE’s confidence, SuperData says that it won’t be saving Battlefield.

Mechanically, Star Wars Battlefront is based firmly in EA’s Battlefield franchise. With 7 million copies sold across platforms, including 1.7 million via full game download on console, Battlefield 4 proved successful, though heralded the decline of the franchise. Even as the console user base expands, sales of each new addition to the franchise has seen faster post-launch-month drops and digital earnings keep dropping faster.

Pick up Star Wars Battlefront on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
