SMITE Battleground of the Gods is heading to PlayStation later this year. The free-to-play game available for PC and Xbox One will also go through a closed Beta in the near future.
If you are interested in taking part in the closed Beta be sure to visit the opt-in page. Hi-Rez Studios have revealed that a closed alpha test is taking place from today, so the process of getting the game ready is moving at a steady pace.
SMITE features over 70 playable gods and mythological creatures, from eight different pantheons from around the world. Officially launched in 2014 on PC, then moving onto Xbox One last year it features over 14 million players to date. In moving to PlayStation 4, it is hoped this number will continue to grow.
The trailer which you can see above was released alongside the announcement and gives you a taste of the gameplay that can be seen in the game. Does it live up to being billed as SMITE Battleground of the Gods?
It will be interesting to see what the reaction is from PlayStation 4 gamers to the announcement of the game. Being free-to-play obviously makes it interesting, and we know that new Gods are introduced to the game regularly to keep it fresh. Hopefully this will still be the case when the game officially arrives on the PlayStation 4 and starts to get noticed.
