CrossFire is one of the highly regarded multiplayer shooter of the last generation consoles. Fans have been waiting for the sequel to be announced for quite some time. Well the wait is over as Smilegate has announced CrossFire 2 along with the help of Remedy Entertainment.
South Korean MMO developer Smilegate announced CrossFire 2 at ChinaJoy 2016. The company confirmed that CrossFire 2 is in development in collaboration with Max Payne and Alan Wake developer, Remedy Entertainment.
Remedy Entertainment is known for its superb storytelling in its games, however, CrossFire was a multiplayer shooter. Maybe Remedy is working with the South Korean developer to bring an amazing single-player experience. And judging from previous Remedy Entertainment games, the studio is likely not to disappoint.
No gameplay details have been revealed for CrossFire 2, but Smilegate hopes that new technology, game modes and storytelling will make CrossFire 2 a popular shooter not only for the Asian market but also in the rest of the world.
A CrossFire film is also in the works, as last year Smilegate announced its partnership with American film production company Original Film to make a CrossFire movie. Original film is known for Fast And Furious movies.
At ChinaJoy, the speaker of Orignal Film expressed that she hopes CrossFire movie would do better in China compared to Warcraft movie. This might be a little hard, as Warcraft movie broke box office record in China.
Remedy Entertainment is working on two new games, however, the studio did not mentioned anything about the game. So it is possible the CrossFire 2 is one of those 2 games.
The original CrossFire game is a tactical shooter developed by Smilegate exclusively for Microsoft Windows.However, Smilegate did not confirmed that CrossFire 2 will also be a Microsoft Windows exclusive, so there is a chance that the game will release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 too.
