Originally released back in 2011, Bethesda took to the E3 2016 stage and announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition which is a remastered version of the 2011 game.
The studio has already announced that Skyrim Special Edition will include a number of visual enhancements and mod support on consoles i.e. Xbox One and Playstation 4. Now we have some more details regarding the game straight from Bethesda’s Pete Hines.
Although he did not reveal too much, speaking with IGN; Hines stated that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will provide a true next-gen experience. According to Hines, the studio is doing everything to make the game feel and look better on Xbox One and Playstation 4:
“In all the ways possible, we’re trying to improve it and make it as next gen and appropriate for these consoles. So performance or effects or whatever we can do to make the game look and feel better, we’re gonna give it a go.”
Since Hines specifically mentioned performance, we can deduce that Skyrim Special Edition will have better frame rates on consoles which is obviously expected of them. Still, it will be interesting to see how Skyrim Special Edition on Xbox One and Playstation 4 will fare against some of the visual mods available on PC.
Coming to the PC version of the game, Bethesda has also announced that all pre-existing Skyrim mods on PC will also work with the game’s Special Edition. Moreover, players who already own Skyrim: Legendary Edition or the vanilla game along with all its released DLCs will get Skyrim Special Edition without any cost. Last but not the least, the studio has also announced that existing Skyrim players will be able to transfer their saves.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is scheduled to release on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 on Oct. 28, 2016.
