The Deathbrand set is a light armor set ideal for those who use magic or favor a spell sword playstyle, introduced in the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC. This unique armor grows stronger as more pieces of the set are collected, and you can do so by initiating a specific quest for the very purpose called Deathbrand.
You must first start the quest, and then go searching for the armor pieces. All pieces are found in the Solstheim region in Skyrim.
How to Start the Deathbrand Armor Set Quest?
To start the quest, you must be level 38 or higher; anything below that, and you won’t be able to initiate it. Secondly, you must find and read a copy of the Deathbrand book. One of the places you can find the book is in the Temple in Raven Rock.
Once you read the book, you will get the ability to unlock Ancient Chests. If you had unlocked any of these chests (typically by lock-picking) before reading the book, they would have been empty.
Alternatively, go straight to Haknir’s Shoal without doing the above steps. Dispatch the pirates and then loot the chest. You will see the Deathbrand Helm inside, and this will initiate the quest. You can then get a map that contains the locations of the rest of the armor pieces from one of the enemies you defeated, most likely the leader.
