Many games that were originally scheduled to release this year, have been pushed back to 2016. In each case, developers said they needed more time with the project.
One example is Quantum Break, one of the most anticipated Xbox One exclusives of 2016. The game will bring us a new take on time travel, since it is a Remedy game, we can expect strong story elements and decent gameplay.
The game has been in development for a long time and according to developers, this is due to Xbox One being a new platform, Quantum Break using new technology. In short, “it’s many things.”
Creative Director Sam Lake explains:
Just thinking about Quantum Break, as an example, there’s a lot of new technology, [Xbox One is] a new platform, it’s a new universe, new story, there’s new core gameplay. [That means] a lot of prototyping, and a lot of discovery. On the whole show side, there are a lot of challenges to figure out. It does end up taking time and, yes, we want to keep the quality high, so we don’t want to make certain kinds of compromises, and are always making sure that this is iterated enough and polished enough and it’s as good as it deserves to be.
Developers are using every last second they have to make QB a memorable game from the studio. And from what we have seen so far, it looks amazing:
Quantum Break will release on April 5, 2016.
