Red Dead Redemption 2 promises to deliver an open world gaming experience second to none. It’s only a matter of hours before we get the most anticipated title of the year in our hands. Phil Hooker tells how Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay is an evolved product of Rockstar Games.
Much of the credit for an epic display of Red Dead Redemption 2 features go to Euphoria engine. Although RAGE is the mainstream engine used in Rockstar Games titles. But, the source code of Euphoria is also embodied in RAGE.
Euphoria is helpful in making the animations inside the game feel more authentic. Meanwhile, this is also the reason for which open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting all the praises. Phil Hooker who is the Director of Technology at Rockstar North told us about this evolution of the game.
Euphoria provides the extra flair needed to further refine physical behaviors. This enables Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay to encompass various outcomes. While Phil explained this while speaking to VG247:
“We use Euphoria specifically to enhance the physics-based reactions of both humans and animals and have really evolved it on Red Dead Redemption 2. For example, if a rider’s horse is shot then there are a range of realistic outcomes like rolling off the horse, being dragged in the stirrups, or even being trapped under a dead horse and fighting to get free.”
Furthermore, Red Dead Redemption 2 characters would also follow the same process. Phil told how an enemy could also respond throughout Red Dead Redemption 2 storyline. All the reactions would add a realistic factor into the gameplay.
Phil also added that basic intention behind it all is to “always make you feel like you’re physically in the world”. So, the animations and behaviors of each Red Dead Redemption 2 character have an idea behind it. Developers seem to be careful with every issue beforehand.
Red Dead Redemption day one update version 1.03 also means to cut such issues out. Moreover, the possibilities in the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 are as vast as they get. Arthur’s gang alone has 22 different stories about it.
