No operator is more beloved (in a special way) in Rainbow Six Siege than Alexander Senaviev aka Lord Tachanka. It looks like Rainbow Six Siege’s Tachanka rework might turn the operator from a meme to a killing machine.
The Russian Spetnaz operator has evolved into meme material over time due to his clumsy movement, cumbersome helmet, and his destructive mounted machine gun. Unfortunately for Tachanka, becoming a meme did not do his pick-rate any favors. Even though the operator is a source of humor in the Siege community, his contribution to gameplay left much to be desired.
In a game such as Rainbow Six Siege, being able to move with speed and agility is pivotal to winning. On the other hand, if a player has limited mobility, he is already at a disadvantage. Tachanka suffered from this exact problem as his arsenal was built around being a tank. Players had to stay still to use his turret which left them vulnerable.
Due to this drawback, Players only picked Tachanka when they wanted to have fun, not to win. Siege players seem to value his existence for the memes but that is all there is to it.
This could all change in upcoming season 1 of year 5 in Rainbow Six Siege. Tachanka seems to be getting a complete overhaul in the upcoming “Operator Rework” project. The Siege team made the announcement at this weekend’s Six invitational tournament. It looks like Tachanka will be anything but a source of humor from now on.
The first major change is that Tachanka’s machine gun will no longer be a mounted weapon. The video shows the lumbering behemoth running and firing his colossal machine gun. The view of this Russian monstrosity rushing towards players while firing his death machine will surely be a sight to behold.
The other change is that his replacement gadget is now a grenade launcher. This just confirms that Tachanka will no longer be a meme but rather a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully, Rainbow Six Siege’s Tachanka rework improves the pick-rate of the Russian Operator. The game just received update 1.82 which had some UI and gameplay fixes which will hopefully be followed up by the upcoming season pass called Operation Void Edge.
Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
