Bethesda has showed a new Quake Champions character via trailer. He’s called Scalebearer and he’s a tank, good at charging at enemies and dealing a lot of damage.
The following is the description for Quake Champions Scalebearer provided by the company on the website of the game:
As a warlord of the marauding Greiss, he conquered countless worlds, plundering technology to strengthen his armies. But defeat by a reclusive, phase-shifting race led to his exile. Obsessed with vengeance, he discovered their power source: an ancient shrine with a seething sphere of liquid within. When at last he slaughtered its guardians and entered, the sphere consumed him—and he vanished. He awoke in a bizarre, brutal realm, transformed by arcane energy. Now he seeks a way back, to regain his command and wield his newfound might.

Many were wondering if Quake Champions will be free to play or not, and it seems that the answer is in the middle.
Quake Champions’ Creative director Tim Willits has talked about its business model during a recent interview with Polygon, and he’s said that the game is both free and pay to play.
According to him, you can play two ways: if you don’t want to pay, you can enjoy the standard version of the game that only includes one character. Otherwise, if you pay, you will have access to all characters and features.
At its core, it’s a free-to-play tile with the option to buy the Champion Pack and just get in and play with all the characters
Anyhow, he also ensured that players will still be able to unlock stuff – for a limited amount of time – without paying.
Quake Champions is an arena shooter in development at id Software for PC only.
