PS4 sales keep growing and the last time we heard the numbers they showed 40 million units sold across the globe. However, since then, Sony has sold another 7 million units to get PS4 SALES

Sony published its latest financial results for the second quarter of 2016. The quarter ended on September 30 and by then, Sony sold 3.9 million PS4 units. However, Sony did see a 10.8 percent decrease in sales and operating income overall.
The year-on-year decrease cost Sony ¥1,688.9 billion and the unfavorable impact of foreign currency exchange rates is to blame. The Game & Network Services division which also includes PlayStation Network saw an 11.3 percent drop in sales and operating revenue.
Meanwhile, the operating income dropped by 20.6 percent.
There are no mentions of PlayStation VR but we expect to see the numbers at the end of the next quarter. Same is the case with PlayStation 4 Pro. Sony’s new machine is releasing later this month and will bring HDR and 4K gaming to consoles.
PS4 sales are expected to see a boost with the release of The Last Guardian and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. According to analyst Michael Goodman, the director of digital media strategies at Strategy Analytics, Sony is splitting the market with PS4 Pro, PS4 Slim and PlayStation VR.
We see a large chunk of the PS4 marketplace, that’s where you’re going to get your PS4, PSVR upgrades. And hanging out in the background is Scorpio. Do I go PSVR now and then buy Scorpio next year? Do I upgrade to a PS4 Pro now and wait on VR? Basically, what Sony is doing is they are splitting the marketplace. It is difficult for any one of these products to scale because of the way they are splitting the marketplace.
