Gamers are waiting for the next-gen Nvidia GPUs while Nvidia itself has been very quiet about them. Leaks and rumors have suggested the upcoming GPUs will Nvidia GTX 11 series, however, one of the Nvidia partners has registered GTX 2080 and GTX 2070 as next-gen Nvidia GPUs.
Nvidia partner, Manli Technologies, has registered GTX 2080 and GTX 2070 as next-gen Nvidia GPUs indicating that upcoming GPU series from Nvidia isn’t Nvidia GTX 11 series but is Nvidia GTX 20 series.
Not only that, it further reveals that the upcoming Nvidia GT 11 or Nvidia GTX 20 series will use “Ampere” cores which is a version of Volta architecture.
This is surprising since leaks and rumors have suggested that upcoming Nvidia GPUs will be based on Nvidia Turing architecture, which itself is a version of Volta architecture.
ECC is the one to list these Nvidia GTX 2080 and GTX 2070 along with the rest of the existing Nvidia GPUs.
While it is an interesting development but, this could very well be an error as Nvidia GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are not listed.
However, until Nvidia officially announces its next-gen GPUs we can only speculate, so take it with a grain of salt.
As for the reveal of the next-gen Nvidia GPUs, Nvidia itself is very silent but, has promised “Spectacular Surprises” at Gamescom 2018.
Nvidia noted that the “event will be loaded with new, exclusive, hands-on demos of the hottest upcoming games, stage presentations from the world’s biggest game developers, and some spectacular surprises.”
In June, Nvidia reportedly sent out invitations to the press for Gamescom 2018 and since then speculations have been making rounds on the internet suggesting that Nvidia is preparing to reveal its next-gen GPUs at Gamescom.
However, the next-gen Nvidia GPU might belong to GTX 11 series as leaked e-mail between NVIDIA AIC and a retailer reveals and confirms release date for next-gen GPUs.
According to the leaked e-mail, the upcoming GTX 1180 will be available on August 30, 2018. The GTX 1170 and mysteriously named GTX 1180+ will be available on September 30th.
What do you think what naming convention next-gen Nvidia GPUs will use? Will it be Nvidia GTX 11 series or Nvidia GTX 20 series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
