Outlast 2 is heading to consoles and PC but where DRM is a norm on consoles, PC users can enjoy DRM-Free copies of Outlast 2. According to the latest announcement, Outlast 2 PC will have no DRM.

However, the freedom is only for those who bought a copy from GOG. Meanwhile, Steam users will buy under the standard DRM.

GOG stated:

We believe that a DRM-free world would be a better place and that’s why you won’t find any DRMs or other intrusive copy protection in items available at GOG.com

Outlast 2 was going to release last year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Unfortunately, the title was delayed and pushed into 2017. According to the developers, the studio needed more time to work on the project and get every aspect in order and according to their standards.

The delay could also have something to do with PS4 Pro’s release. PS4 Pro support was recently added to Outlast 2. When asked if the game will support PS4 Pro feature:

Yes it will. It will have higher shadow quality, higher quality texture filtering and more detailed meshes. That’s what we have so far, but we’re still working on some improvements.

Outlast 2 is a first person survival horror games in development at Red Barrels Studio, and will release sometime in 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A final release date should be announced in the coming weeks.
