No Dishonored 2 Co-Op Play Planned

According to Arkane creative director Harvey Smith there will not be a Dishonored 2 co-op option when the game releases this November.

You won’t be able to play Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin together when Dishonored 2 finally comes out. Arkane Studios has said that there will not be any Dishonored 2 co-op play. However, Harvey Smith, the game’s creative director, does recommend that you play it through more than once.

Dishonored 2 is the sequel to the 2012 first-person stealth/action game Dishonored, which chronicled the journey of Corvo Attano, the bodyguard to the Empress of the Empire of the Isles.

When the Empress is murdered and Corvo is wrongly convicted and imprisoned, you had to take Corvo on a journey of vengeance to find the true culprits and bring justice to them, lethal or otherwise.

Dishonored 2 will be taking place after a time skip, and will take place 15 years after the original Dishonored. Corvo and Emily will both be playable and will go through the same missions, but will go through them with different objectives and paths.

Each one will also have different powers as they travel through the city of Karnaca on the island of Serkonos.

The plot of the game will be relatively similar to the first, as Emily and Corvo fight to save the Empire from an otherworldly usurper, though we don’t know who it is.

While the reveal trailer we got at E3 2015 showed that Emily appears to be taking a more frontal role from her role in the previous game (where she was just a hostage and did nothing of note), Dishonored 2 co-op will still not be available to play.

Harvey Smith says that co-op would destroy the feeling of stealth and freedom that Arkane wanted us to feel, and he might be right. With co-op, the experience might be more frustrating as one or both players are repeatedly seen.

Dishonored 2 will be releasing on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on November 11, 2016, so until then, we’ll have to wait for more information.
