Koei Tecmo has had a shallow player base with respect to Dynasty Warriors and Dead or Alive series but thanks to the commercial recognition and successes of Nioh, Koei Tecmo just entered the AAA games space.
Hisashi Koinuma the president of Koei Tecmo at an event talked about the company’s recent success and gave credit to the success of Nioh.
The intense combat sequences that were given by the company in multiple games like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive have had their fair share in the limelight but now that Nioh is there too in the picture, the situation just got better for the company.
Over the last year, the Nintendo Switch has had a great success and Koei Tecmo plans to work with Nintendo Switch.
Hisashi Koinuma added that Nintendo Switch is something that is very appropriate for the Japanese and European region so they plan to work with Nintendo for more Switch content.
Koei Tecmo isn’t the only one, according to a report out of GDC 2018, developer interest in Nintendo Switch is increasing.
This is a big deal for Nintendo, given that in our surveys respondents typically favor PC, mobile, PS4, and Xbox One. However, this year Switch surpassed Xbox and mobile in terms of developer interest; as mentioned, 36 percent of respondents said they were most interested in the Switch, while 30 percent said smartphones/tablets and 28 percent said Xbox One/One X.
