Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said that there is no change in company’s plans and expects its upcoming console to ship two million units worldwide at launch.

We are continuously producing in earnest, and there are no changes to our plans to ship two million hardware units worldwide by the end of March 2017. Pre-order sales have also begun across the globe. We have heard that many retailers have already closed pre-orders and have allocated remaining inventory for sale on launch day. This pre-order momentum is reassuring proof that the core gamer demographic understands the uniqueness of the Nintendo Switch and continues to support us.

He also addressed the issue of Nintendo Switch launch line-up. According to Kimishima, the launch line-up for the console is not weak it’s just the company’s strategy about “arranging the 2017 software lineup” which is “continue to provide new titles regularly without long gaps. This encourages consumers to continue actively playing the system, maintains buzz, and spurs continued sales momentum for Nintendo Switch.”

He added that there were over 80 titles in development from 50 software developers on January 13, 2017, and now the number has reached to over 100 titles from 70 publishers.

Nintendo Switch will launch on March 3, 2017, and will be priced at $299.99 in the US and Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild will be one of the launch titles for the hybrid console.
