Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a few months away from releasing on Nintendo Switch and rumors say that Nintendo might be already working on a new Donkey Kong title exclusively for the company’s best selling console.

According to a commenter on ResetEra, who claims to have a connection with David Wise who is the composer to Donkey Kong, Wise is already working with Nintendo, probably for a new Donkey Kong title. His comment was:

“I spoke to David a few months ago and he said he was in Texas working for Nintendo. So unless Retro are doing a new IP with David Wise music, he’s doing DK.”

Another source, this one on Nibel account on Twitter claims that the aforementioned rumor is not entirely false. However, the same administrator couldn’t confirm whether or not the composer may be working on a new soundtrack for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo hasn’t released a new title for the franchise since 2014’s Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and have been silent about the future of series ever since. There’s little chance that the company is actually working on a new Donkey Kong project but a fan could only hope.

After a year where Nintendo’s greatest heroes like Super Mario and Link in the Legend of Zelda came back to life through Nintendo Switch, its only natural that other franchises may be revived too. Switch’s success in 2017 is merely the beginning of Nintendo’s road to success again.

According to Nintendo President, Tatsumi Kimishima that the ground is set for the console to be a hit and it falls to Nintendo Switch’s second year to determine if that huge success is going to last.

Regarding the Nintendo Switch, Stardew Valley lead the global chart followed by Minecraft and Sonic Mania in 2017. What is interesting about the global chart, the rest of the list is dominated by indie titles such as Shovel Knights and Rocket League.
