Ni no Kuni 2 Errors, Crashes And Fixes
Ni no Kuni 2 is the sequel to the Ni no Kuni. The game is an action RPG developed by Level-5 exclusively for PC and PlayStation 4. The following are the Ni no Kuni 2 errors and issues that players have been experiencing along with their possible fix or workaround.
Controller Not Working, Controller Disconnected Fix
Some PC players have reported that they are unable to play Ni No Kuni 2 with their controllers whether it is Dualshocker 4, Steam Controller or Xbox One controller.
For some players, the Xbox 360 controller is not working and there is a simple workaround for this issue. Just switch to the “Big Picture Mode” in Steam before launching the game and the issue should resolve.
As for PlayStation 4 controller, Dualshock 4, not working for you, all you have to do is disable the “PS4 Controller Support” and it should work. Disable the support by going to settings > controller > general controller settings.
Now if the above workarounds haven’t worked for you then you there is another way you can try to make your Xbox or PlayStation 4 controller to work with Ni no Kuni 2.
For this workaround open up Steam and go the settings and click on “In-game”. Here check the “Use Big Picture Overlay when using a Steam controller on Desktop”.
Then select the “Controller” option from the same menu where you selected “In-game”. Check the “Guide Button Focuses Steam” and launch the game. Once the game starts, open the Steam Overlay by pressing “Shift + Tab” and click on controller configuration.
Select Browse configs and then select “Show other Controller Types” in the bottom. Here you will be presented with options for Xbox, PS4 and Steam controller configs. Select the config for the controller you want to use press “Ok” when prompted and just press Done. After this, your controller should work with the game whether it is Steam controller, Xbox One controller or Dualshock 4.
Randon Crashes, Crash Fix
Game crashing is a commonly occurring issue for PC games to which Ni no Kuni 2 is not immune, however, there is a simple workaround through which you can avoid the game from crashing.
Some players have reported that the game randomly crashes during battles. As strange as it may sound, you can try to play the game in Borderless Windowed mode and the game should stop crashing. You can also avoid this issue by changing the in-game FPS option to Unlimited”.
FPS Drops, Stuttering Fix
Many PC players have reported that despite their system being more powerful than the game’s recommended system requirements there are some serious frame rate drops in the game along with constant in-game stutter.
The solution for this issue is simple. All you have to do is start the game and then open “Task Manager” and click on “More Details”. Now select the “Details” tab and find the “Nino2.exe”. Right-click on the exe and change the priority any option above “Normal”. This will resolve the frame rate drop issue and the constant stutter in the game.
You can also try to update your GPU drivers to the latest version as they bring optimizations for latest games. Furthermore, you need to check if there is a background process running that is using too much HDD which can cause stutters. Close that application for a smoother experience.
No Audio With HDMI, Audio Fixes
Another one of Ni no Kuni 2 issues that PC players have reported is the lack of audio in the game while using the HDMI or no audio at all. There are a few steps you can take to ensure the audio comes back.
As for the no audio through HDMI, you have to open up “Payback devices” by right-clicking the audio icon in the bottom right of the desktop and set the proper audio device as default as there is a chance that the OS might have selected the wrong output device as default.
If you are having audio issues while playing the game with a Dualshock 4 controller then you might have to disable the controller’s microphone to get the audio or you will have to plug the headphones or speakers in the controller itself for the audio.
Screen Flickering, Green Screen Fix
This is another of the game’s issues that Nvidia GPU owners might be experiencing. To resolve the green screen issue all you have to do is open “Nvidia Control Panel”.
Select “Change Resolution” here check the “Use Nvidia Color Setting” and select the “Highest (32-Bit)” for Desktop Color depth and the issue should never bother you again.
Missing “.dll” Files
This issue is common in Windows 7, however, if you are facing this issue in later versions of Windows, just update your Windows and the registry will be updated along with the “.dll” files.
You can also try to manually download the missing “.dll” file from the internet and placing it in the game folder, however, we do not recommend doing this.
If you are facing this issue on Windows 7, the issue is due to the lack of the updated OS or Visual C++ Redistributable not being up-to-date. All you have to do is update your OS and the issue will be resolved and if the OS is updated and the issue persists then just install the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 which will automatically update the file or will put it in your system if it is missing.
