Microsoft has officially announced the new Xbox One Backwards Compatibility titles which includes The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and more.
In a recent blogpost, Microsoft’s Major Nelson announced that from now on, Xbox One Backwards Compatibility titles will release as they become available rather than a set monthly date. Once a title has received the engineering and publisher’s stamp of approval, it will be released instantly:
In addition to adding a few new titles to the backward compatibility list, we’re also going to start releasing titles as they become available rather than a set monthly launch date. What this means for you is that you won’t have to wait to find out the latest titles; we’ll release whatever is available, when they’re available, once each title has received the engineering and publisher stamp of approval.
Oddly enough, I do not see any mention of Tekken Tag Tournament II in the list of games despite the fact that people are able to download it and play it on their Xbox One consoles:
As for the titles that have been added to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program, these include:
- Aegis Wing
- Age of Booty
- Counter-Strike: GO
- Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad
- Sam & Max Save the World
- Skullgirls
- Small Arms
- Soulcalibur
- Space Giraffe
- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Finally, as reported earlier, Major Nelson has also confirmed that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition is free on Xbox from now on till Feb. 05, 2016.
