4J has released a new update that adds a new Minecraft Battle mode. It adds a new mini-game to the mix across all platforms.

Battle is the first of several mini games we’re releasing for Console Edition and will be rolling out as free update across Xbox, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita and Wii U today. It’s a last-minecrafter-standing deathmatch in which players tussle over resources and weapons in perilous arenas, fending off would-be assassins and their own hunger pangs.

This mode is designed for consoles in mind, it is a super-accessible and fast-paced game mode created for couch-based competitive showdown between friends. It also supports online matchmaking so you can compete with players around the world.

You won’t need to craft items, you can loot inventories and equip armour with just a button press. The update and three arenas are available for free but if you wish to get extra maps you’ll have them available soon for $2.99 each. 4J will also be adding more game modes soon.

we’re hoping to really amp up the variety of Minecraft on consoles, helping players to set up bizarre and outlandish rulesets without the fuss of manual countdowns, refilling loot chests, or score-keeping.

Download the update right now on the platform of your choice and enjoy the new Minecraft Battle Mode.
