Last year we saw the launch of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy on the PlayStation 4 which proved to be rather successful and now a report has made its way on the internet suggesting that new Crash Bandicoot game might launch in 2019.
Activision has planed a new Crash Bandicoot game for 2019, this is according to Licensing manager for GB eye, Max Arguile, who revealed it to the “Licensing Source Book Europe” spring issue.
According to Arguile, due to the massive success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy on PS4 without any marketing spend, Activision will bring the game to Switch and PC in 2018.
He added that “There will be another game in 2019” and Activision has a five-year plan for the Crash Bandicoot franchise and GB eye is delighted to be fully on board for all products.
However, this is not the first time Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy has popped up for Nintendo’s hybrid console, Nintendo Switch, as the game was listed for Switch back in 2017.
Furthermore, publisher Activision doesn’t intend to just stop here with the remakes and remasters. Activision, CEO Eric Hirshberg has revealed that the company is surprised with the success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. He added that given the success of the remasters such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster, the company intends to remaster more of its older titles for the current generation.
This is a strategy that clearly has our attention, and while there are no new announcements today, I think you can be confident there will be more activity like this in the future with more great IP. The other opportunity beyond remasters is to look at some of our classic IP and ask whether or not it can be reborn on a new platform, like what we’re doing with Skylanders on mobile. Our IP library is an asset that, when done right, can be very powerful.
Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is a compilation of the first three games developed by Vicarious Visions exclusively for PlayStation 4.
