Mortal Kombat 11 will be the most supported title yet by NetherRealm Studios. Senior UI Artist of the game Daanish Syed revealed this information on Twitter recently in response to a curious fan.
Syed was asked if Mortal Kombat 11 is going to have a life cycle longer than 2 years (more than average of previous games) or not, to which he replied by saying “oh it’s going to be – by a lot”. This means that the title will continue receiving new content after a year which wasn’t the case with previous Mortal Kombat games in the series.
Most Mortal Kombat games are supported for a year after which we start to hear about the next game in the series but this time the developer is planning on doing things differently.
It’s great news for those who plan on grabbing the game on launch and keep it for years. Longer support means eventually more Kombat packs which bring new DLC fighters to MK11. Although, not everyone is trusting NetherRealm’s words for longer title support because it’s something they also said about Injustice League 2 but failed to act on it. Keeping that in mind, don’t get your hopes too high.
Good news is that the developer has already confirmed two Kombat Packs that will be coming to MK11 after it’s launch. Shang Tsung is the first DLC character coming as a part of Kombat pack 1. Tsung is one of the total six characters which are yet to be announced for this DLC pack.
There’s no revealed price tag yet of DLC fighters or whether the characters inside will be released individually or not. However, those who are interested in extra fighters should grab premium and Kollector’s edition of Mortal Kombat 11 which is a GameStop exclusive in the US. The Kollector’s Edition of MK 11 offers the game’s premium edition, a collector’s box, a steel book case, a scorpion mask and costs a hefty $300.
Moreover, we continue to hear about new characters in the latest entry of Mortal Kombat franchise days ahead of its launch.
Kollector and Cetrion are the latest revealed fighters for the game. We also got our first look at the young version of fighters in the game in a recently released trailer. The trailer showed us Johnny Cage of the past fighting against Johnny Cage of the present. Fans are really excited for the game as the music, fatalities, gameplay, story and everything of the game looks on point.
Mortal Kombat 11 published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will release on April 23, 2019, for Microsoft’s Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Sony’s PlayStation 4.
