Publisher 1C Company launched the early access program for Men of War: Assault Squad 2. Anyone who has pre-purchased the game will now be able to participate in the Beta build of the game.
Preorders on Steam are currently running at 20% off the regular price of €29.99 or $34.99. Additionally, those who also own the first Men of War: Assault Squad will receive an additional 10% discount.
Men of War is one of the Russian publisher’s emergent strategy series, concentrating on battlefields across events like World War II and such. Normally, these take place from a top view, where players command an entire faction.
In the Assault Squad games, however, players can take control of just one unit. Missions will vary from operating tanks to performing stealthy sniper missions.
Multiplayer will allow for one on one matches and include team battles of four people fighting four others. In the sequel, it will also be possible to go 8 versus 8.
While the Men of War series already is visually impressive this new iteration will update textures and effects even further. There will also be multi-core support to process the lot.
As good news to content creators, Men of War: Assault Squad 2 will feature its own in-game video recording tools. Steam will also integrate its workshop for additional content, as well as the regular barrage of achievements and other functionalities.
Looking to the future, the developer has promised to give its community additional content for free. On the Steam page, it states:
Digitalmindsoft guarantees you to release several free game updates including new content and features during the lifetime of the game.
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 will launch in full on March 20, 2014 as a digital download.
